1st Much Hadham Spring Newsletter 2012Beavers & Cubs and Scouts Click Here to view the 1st Much Hadham Scout Group website It’s been a while since we’ve updated you all on what the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been up to and what we have planned on our calendar for the rest of this year. It’s looking very busy. We managed to raise a massive £651.00 with our sponsored hike back in September. The scouts went bag packing to Sainsburys at Christmas and raised £313.00 in just 2 hours. We are planning an Easter bag pack as the Scouts did enjoy themselves! We raised £270.00 last autumn by way of hiring out the scout hut for parties and drama rehearsals. We were also generously donated £500.00 by the Much Hadham Playgroup Ball Committee. To this end the fund raising helps us to subsidise all the extra activities we plan to do. The Beavers had a successful trip out in January to the science alive workshops at Harlow Leisure Centre. We will be planning to take the cubs here in the summer. The cubs will also take a trip to the Harlow climbing wall, and we have just found a contact for some Karate demonstration and instruction for all 3 sections. We have also booked The John Warner pool for a day in July (Sunday 15th) for some of our cubs and scouts to try out Scuba diving. Places are limited so it will be offered to the older children first. As you now know we have two camps booked this spring / summer. I would just like to say thank you for all the hard work that our leaders and our committee put in and without whom we could not give our children these great opportunities. I would also like to thank all the parents that come along to support us in helping at our meetings. If you, like our leaders, enjoy a sense of adventure and would like to become involved in helping at either Beavers, cubs or scouts you would be most welcome and in the first instance give me a call, alternatively we are desperate for some more committee members to support the behind the scenes work that is vital and to share the load. Again please get in contact with myself or our chair Katie Dowse on 01279 841058. Alison Whenman Group Scout Leader 01279 842714 |
