Re:Plummers 14 Years, 10 Months ago
The old post office, now occupied by Noel Thurgood, is commonly known as Plummers.
It was owned by my forebear, John Driver and his heirs from about 1770 til 1810. I am antrigued as to the original of the name Plummers. Can anyone help?

I have ancestors from Huch Hadham including a Daniel Orgar, carpenter of Much Hadham, who in his Will written in April 1714 & proved 24th January 1714/15 (Essex Record Office ref D/ABW 81/173)gave "unto my wellbeloved wife Mary Orgar .. my house called Plummers wherein John Dean and Eliz. Monk wid(ow) now dwell .. at the Street of Much Hadham .. and lately purchased of Arthur Phillips butcher" If you go to the SEAX website & search the catalogue you will find a reference to a Will of 1591 made by John Plummer of Much Hadham (ref D/ABW 29/165). I have not looked at this Will although I am planning a visit to the Essex Record Office & Much Hadham in the next couple of weeks & will try to find out more. Seems quite likely "Plummers" was a house occupied or owned by this John Plummer.
